Man Hospitalized for Severe Head Trauma After Florida Bicycle Accident

A man riding his bicycle in Ponte Vedra Beach is listed in very critical condition after he was struck by a truck recently near the intersection of State Road A1A and Dolphin Boulevard. Florida Highway Patrol troopers say that the 56-year-old victim was southbound in the bike lane of S.R. A1A when the accident occurred. They say that a Ford truck driven by a 43-year-old man, also from Ponte Vedra Beach, was heading east on Dolphin Boulevard and attempting to turn north onto S.R. A1A when he drove into the path of the bicyclist.

Florida Motorcyclist Killed When Car Crosses Center Line

Florida Highway Patrol troopers investigating a fatal motorcycle accident report that an Odessa motorcyclist was killed when a car crossed the centerline into her lane, forcing her to collide with the side of the car. Troopers say the 59-year-old victim was riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound on US 27/US 19 when a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro driven by a 51-year-old Greenville man violated her right of way by drifting into oncoming traffic. Troopers say the victim had little or no time to avoid the accident and collided with the left front side of the car.

Alcohol a Possible Factor in Fatal Florida Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident

Polk County Sheriff’s deputies are still conducting their investigation into a hit-and-run bicycle accident in Lakeland that killed a 51-year-old man but claim that they suspect alcohol was a contributing factor. They report that the victim was struck and killed while riding his bike near Deeson Road and Cherry Road around 1:30 a.m. one recent morning. They arrested a 21-year-old Lakeland man in connection with the fatal accident after a local resident found the victim lying in the middle of Deeson Road.

Safety Improvements Planned for Bike Path After Serious Florida Bicycle Accident

A recent bicycle accident that critically injured a Lakeland man on Lake Hollingsworth Drive has led to a series of planned safety improvements to protect bicyclists along the popular route. The accident occurred on March 1 at the entrance to the Lakeland Yacht & Country Club parking lot when a 61-year-old Lakeland man turned his Ford Ranger directly in front of three bicyclists. The accident left a 62-year-old Lakeland resident with life-threatening injuries and one of the other riders with minor injuries. The third cyclist, a 47-year-old man also from Lakeland, refused medical treatment after the accident.

U of F Student Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident

A University of Florida student is receiving care at Shands at the University of Florida and hospitalized in extremely critical condition after she was struck and injured in a recent hit-and-run bicycle accident. Accident investigators say that the 21-year-old woman was riding her bike near Southwest 16th Avenue near Archer Road when she was struck by a driver who fled the accident scene without stopping to help. She is being treated for severe head trauma, a broken arm and two broken legs, according to a Gainesville Police officer. He reports that a vehicle believed to be involved in the accident has been recovered, but no arrest has been made in connection with the incident.

Two People Seriously Injured in Florida Multi-Car Accident on Interstate 4

Orlando auto accident attorney James O. Cunningham would like to caution readers to be extra careful this summer while traveling on crowded Florida roadways and make sure to leave plenty of space between their vehicles and the vehicles in front of them. A series of collisions involving six cars on Interstate 4 near the intersection with Sand Lake Road has resulted in two people being treated in local hospitals with serious injuries. Florida Highway Patrol troopers issued citations to three drivers involved in the accidents, which occurred shortly after 4 a.m. one recent morning.

One Killed, Three Injured in Horrific Florida Trucking Accident

One man was killed and three others injured recently in a horrific chain reaction accident involving three tractor-trailers, a Jeep and a passenger car. Florida Highway Patrol troopers described a very grim accident scene where the passenger car was wedged beneath one of the trailers and the Jeep was smashed between the two big rigs. Troopers say the accident occurred around 1:15 p.m. when one of the semis, driven by an Orlando man, rear-ended one of the passenger cars and drove it into the other vehicle. The force of impact then caused the truck to push the passenger vehicles into the other trucks.

Recent Deadly Florida Golf Cart Accident Sheds Light on Dangers of These Vehicles

Recently, a 27-year-old Land O’ Lakes woman was killed when she was thrown from a golf cart making a left turn and fell on the pavement at an area country club. The victim and her friend were riding on the cart at Lake Padgett Estates when they tried to turn left onto the driveway of a neighborhood park. The friend was driving the golf cart at the time, and, when he turned, she was ejected from the cart and suffered massive head trauma, which caused her death.

More Red Light Cameras Planned for Kissimmee, Florida

In a move that Orlando personal injury attorneys and lawyers throughout Central Florida welcome, Kissimmee officials have approved new red light cameras at some of the city’s busiest intersections. Red light cameras have been installed at the intersection of Main Street and Neptune Road since early in 2012, and the city recently installed others at Thacker Avenue and U.S. Highway 192. In June, the city will install more cameras along Highway 192 intersections with Thacker Boulevard, Bass Road and John Young Parkway. Kissimmee spokeswoman Carla Banks said the new sites were chosen due to high traffic volume and persistent problems with drivers disobeying traffic signals.

Inattentive Dump Truck Driver Injures Four in Florida Accident

July 2, 2012

A dump truck struck two vehicles and injured four people, two of them critically, in a recent accident in Volusia County. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) accident investigators say that the 33-year-old driver of the dump truck was driving northbound on State Road 415 just after noon one recent day when he failed to notice that traffic in front of him had slowed. FHP troopers say the driver first struck the rear of a Kia passenger car driven by a 63-year-old Edgewater man and then continued into the northbound lanes, where he struck a Nissan Maxima. After striking the Nissan, the truck continued on the shoulder for a short distance, where it struck and destroyed several mailboxes and a telephone pole.
