Inattentive Dump Truck Driver Injures Four in Florida Accident
A dump truck struck two vehicles and injured four people, two of them critically, in a recent accident in Volusia County. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) accident investigators say that the 33-year-old driver of the dump truck was driving northbound on State Road 415 just after noon one recent day when he failed to notice that traffic in front of him had slowed. FHP troopers say the driver first struck the rear of a Kia passenger car driven by a 63-year-old Edgewater man and then continued into the northbound lanes, where he struck a Nissan Maxima. After striking the Nissan, the truck continued on the shoulder for a short distance, where it struck and destroyed several mailboxes and a telephone pole.
