Leesburg Pedestrian Killed after Being Struck by Two Cars
Police with the Leesburg Police Department are continuing to investigate a fatal pedestrian accident that happened along Pine Street on the night of Friday, March 22nd, that resulted in the death of one elderly person and the injury of another. According to the initial reports from the Leesburg Police Department, the incident began when a 60-year-old woman began crossing Pine Street close to its intersection with Knott Street. It is not clear from the reports whether or not the woman was crossing at a crosswalk or other pedestrian zone, and, if so, whether or not she had the right of way. What is clear though is that as she was walking across the road, she was struck by a 2006 Honda Sedan.
Twelve Law Enforcement Agencies Team-Up to Fight DUI Crashes in Central Florida
This past weekend saw the convergence of three events that habitually take place around this time of year and always lead to a sharp increase in the number of drunk driving accidents and injuries. These events are, of course, the beginning of Spring Break, the end of Bike Week, and St. Patrick’s Day. In order to hopefully cut down on the number of crashes and deaths that the mixture of celebrations can often induce, 12 different law enforcement groups throughout the Central Florida area teamed up to create what they identified as a Saturation Patrol.
Head-On Crash Close to Tampa Kills Motorcyclist
A terrible collision that took place close to Tampa in Hillsborough County resulted in massive lane closures and the death of an individual from Thonotosassa. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal motorcycle accident took place along U.S. 92 and involved a 36-year-old Thonotosassa resident as well as a 2005 Chevrolet. The identity of the Chevrolet’s driver was not included in the report.
One Dead, Three Injured in Three-Car Crash near Tampa
Towards the end of February, a tragic auto accident occurred after an individual who had stopped in order to assist another motorist along I-75 in Hillsborough County was struck and killed by a car traveling along this same road. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place sometime during the morning of Sunday, February 24th, and involved at least three cars.
One Dead, One Injured in Single-Car Apopka Crash
Reports are beginning to emerge regarding a fatal single-car crash that happened within the city of Apopka on Wednesday, March 6th. While it is not believed that more than one vehicle was involved, it does appear that at least one person was killed and another badly injured after the car they were in crashed and erupted into flames.
Orlando Hit-and-Run Victim was Helping Motorist Change Tire
An individual who was helping a disabled motorist change a tire on their car was killed on Monday, February 18th, after they were struck by a passing vehicle. The Florida Highway Patrol stated that the fatal hit-and-run accident happened close to 1:00 in the morning, and that it was on the eastern lanes of I-4, close to the exit from the interstate to Dirksen Drive, within the city limits of Deltona.
Pedestrian Killed in Marion County After Being Struck By Car
A 59-year-old person from Ocala died in Marion County this past Saturday after they were involved in a crash. Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol reported that the individual was walking his bike along the inside of the southern lane of U.S. 441 close to 11:00 at night when the pedestrian accident took place.
Month Long Effort by FHP and OPD to Reduce Number of Hit-and-Run Crashes
Recently, officers with the Florida Highway Patrol and the Orlando Police Department joined with the loved ones of people who had died as a result of hit-and-run accidents to plead with the drivers behind hit-and-run accidents to stop fleeing from crash sites. This comes as part of a month-long effort by the Florida Highway Patrol and the Orlando Police Department to reduce the number of hit-and-run crashes that happen in Central Florida as well as throughout the rest of the state.
DUI Charges for Driver Involved in Fatal April Crash of Last Year
The Florida Highway Patrol has arrested a person believed to be responsible for a multi-vehicle collision in Lake County that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist in April of last year. According to this update to an older story, the initial incident took place in Lake County, shortly after midnight, on the 1st of April, 2018.
DUI Charges for Driver Suspected of Fatal Hit-and-Run in Brevard County
An early morning crash on Wednesday, January 23rd, resulted in police searching for, and ultimately capturing, an individual believed to be behind the fatal hit-and-run. According to reports from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place around 12:15 in the morning, along State Road 520, and close to the intersection of S.R. 520 and Varr Avenue.
