Pensacola Accident Causes a Few Delays on U.S. 98

A small accident on U.S. 98 in Pensacola caused some slight delays this afternoon, when a small SUV in the furthest right lane was stopped waiting to turn right. Another vehicle approached the intersection in the outside lane and attempted to turn right at the same time. The vehicles crashed when the front left of the SUV collided with the right front side of the other vehicle as they both attempted to negotiate the turn. The accident resulted in only minor injuries to both parties and both declined to be transported to area health centers for examination.

Waterford Lakes Crash Results in Fatality

An unexplained accident early Sunday morning has claimed the life of a 21-year-old Orlando woman. According to Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling eastbound along State Road 408 when it left the road and traveled across all lanes of traffic before dropping into a retention pond. According to an eyewitness, it did not appear that the driver slowed for the exit ramp and drove straight across all lanes of traffic on Alafaya Trail. The car entered the pond and immediately sank. The driver was unable to get out of the car in time, and ultimately drowned.

State Road 60 Wrong-Way Crashes

In early May, a driver going the wrong way on State Road 60 caused a four-car crash. His pickup truck struck two cars, and one was pushed into a semi-tractor trailer. One of the drivers he hit was taken to Tampa General Hospital and died from his injuries.

Three People Killed in Casselberry Crash

May 11, 2015

An accident just after midnight Tuesday morning has claimed the lives of three young Florida residents. Police say that 27-year-old Laura Hopkins was attempting to turn left off of State Road 436 onto Winter Woods Boulevard when her vehicle was struck by another vehicle driven by 29-year-old Kyle Mowery. Hopkins also had a passenger in her vehicle at the time of the incident, 22-year-old Erica Jusino. The two women were on their way to a friend’s house of the time of the accident.

Judgement Made in Florida Fatal Car Accident

December 4, 2014

Justice was finally served for a driver who was high on drugs when he caused a multi-car motor vehicle accident in 2012. Louis Prinzo, IV, 24, was sentenced to 16 years in state prison on November 14. According to media reports and information from the State Attorney’s Office, Prinzo plead guilty to two counts of DUI causing death, one count of DUI causing serious bodily injury and one count of misdemeanor DUI in October. Two charges were dropped during the plea agreement.

Study Finds Accidents at Red Lights in Kissimmee Increase after Cameras Installed

Recent statistics on the number of crashes in Kissimmee point to the conclusion that overall camera-enforced red lights do not decrease the number of crashes at some of the busiest intersections in Osceola County. Since 2011, the number of vehicle crashes, especially rear-end collisions, has risen.

Three Injured near Kissimmee when Driver Loses Control of her Car

February 21, 2014

A 21-year-old Kissimmee man, along with two others, was injured recently when a driver lost control of her car and crashed into an Amscot branch at 1021 Buenaventura Lakes Blvd. Florida Highway Patrol troopers investigating the accident say that the man was in the process of cashing his first paycheck at the check-cashing facility when the car burst through the side of the building and struck him. Two other people at the Amscot branch, a 23-year-old Orlando man and a 36-year-old Kissimmee woman, also suffered injuries in the accident.

FHP Says Charges Pending against Teen Driver who caused Fatal Car Accident

Florida Highway Patrol troopers investigating a recent fatal accident near Oviedo say that charges are pending against the 15-year-old driver who caused the accident and his mother, who was riding in the car when the accident occurred. Troopers say that the teen driver ran a red light at the intersection of Red Bug Lake Road and State Road 426 around 12:20 p.m. They report that the boy and his 32-year-old mother were traveling eastbound in a 1999 Ford SUV on Red Bug Lake Road when he drove through a red light at S.R. 426.

Three Kissimmee Men Arrested for Street Racing

November 21, 2013

Osceola County deputies arrested three Kissimmee men for street racing early one recent Sunday morning and booked them into the Osceola County jail. According to arrest reports, the three men, ages 19, 20 and 35, were each driving their own cars on Orange Blossom Trail at speeds over 111 mph in a 50 mph zone. Deputies report that they impounded a black BMW sedan, a blue Ford Mustang and a blue Mitsubishi Lancer after arresting the drivers. They say that the men were uncooperative during their arrests and have been charged with racing on a highway and reckless driving.
