St. Petersburg Teenagers Steal Car, Three Die
At some point during either the night of Saturday or the early hours of Sunday morning, a sport utility vehicle parked in St. Petersburg was stolen by four teenagers. The report from the St. Petersburg Police Department and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office indicates that the vehicle was noted as being stolen shortly afterward, and the police began to search for the perpetrators. At one point, the police found the car and attempted to pull it over, but the driver stepped hard on the gas and sped away. In an attempt to prevent a dangerous, high-speed chase, the police involved decided that chasing the vehicle would place the lives of the officers at risk and refrained from pursuing the vehicle. Car Crashes through Window of Titusville Hair Salon
In Titusville last Thursday, an emergency 911 call brought the Titusville Fire Department and the Titusville Police Department to 105 Seminole Avenue. The call reported a car accident, and when the emergency services arrived they found the single car involved in the crash. While no other vehicles were involved, it seems as though the car (which the report failed to describe in any detail) did crash into a building. Residents in Apopka Complain about Frequent Accidents
A woman from Apopka was alarmed on Sunday morning when she heard a loud crashing sound from outside her home. She rose from the spot on her couch where she had been breastfeeding her baby and looked out the window. Right in front of her mailbox, which sits beside Lake Francis Drive, she saw an overturned car, the wheels still spinning. Shortly afterwards, a young woman crawled out of one of the car’s windows. Rainy Weather Cause of Orlando Car Accident
Rainy weather is being blamed for a recent Orlando motor vehicle accident that sliced a car in half. According to Melbourne, Florida police, the single-car crash happened around 4:00 pm on NASA Boulevard near the Orlando – Melbourne International Airport. The police believe that the rain-covered roads caused the vehicle to hydroplane before hitting a pole nearby Eddie Allen Road. Paramedics rushed to the scene and took the victim, who was conscious, to the hospital. Nobody else is reported to having been injuring during the incident.
Orlando Teen Killed in Car vs. Pedestrian Accident
An Orlando teen was killed over the weekend in a hit and run crash. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the 17 year old was walking east on the paved shoulder of Orange Blossom Trail, near Hope Street, in Osceola County when he was hit and killed by an eastbound vehicle. Read the rest »
Two Die after Driver Loses Control in Orange County
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an accident took place along Interstate 4 in Orange County early on Thursday Morning after a car left the roadway and collided with a line of trees. The report indicates that the car, a 2003 four-door Infiniti, was traveling well above the posted limit on I-4, close to the Beachline, when the individual behind the wheel somehow lost control of the vehicle. Child Pressured to Drive, Crashed in Port St. Lucie
A woman in Port St. Lucie was arrested last tuesday after an incident occurred which boggled the minds of the Port St. Lucie Police Department and led to the hospitalization of several children. According to the Port St. Lucie Police report, the 20-year-old Brittney Powell was driving along Northeast Airoso Boulevard when she turned to the 12-year-old beside her and asked if she wanted to learn how to drive. FHP Sgt. Struck, Killed While Assisting Alachua County Crash
Sgt. William Trampass Bishop, a member of the Florida Highway Patrol, was in the process of responding to a crash between two cars along Alachua County’s stretch of I-75 when he was struck and killed by another vehicle. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles has issued a statement regarding the incident in which they discuss the circumstances leading to the death of this beloved police force veteran. According to the statement, Sgt. Bishop had arrived at the scene of the first crash around 6:30 in the evening and was in the process of assisting the other first responders in southbound I-75’s emergency lane. Read the rest »
Volusia County Deputy Injured after Being Dragged by Car
An officer with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office suffered minor injuries this past Sunday after a driver pulled over in a routine traffic stop attempted to flee while the officer’s hand was inside the vehicle. According to the official statement, Deputy William Kretzer was on duty on Sunday when he pulled over the 27-year-old LaRodney Bennett on North Center Street in Pierson after Bennett was clocked breaking the speed limit. During the procedure, Kretzer discovered two outstanding warrants for Bennett’s arrest. Kretzer exited his vehicle and approached Bennett’s car. Read the rest »
