On Monday, October 19th, 2015, 84-year-old Porfirio Perez of Orlando was driving south in the northbound lanes of State Road 417. Despite attempts by a Seminole County Sheriff to alert Perez to his error and stop him from driving in the wrong direction by flashing his lights and blaring his sirens, the front corner of Perez’s 2005 PT Cruiser hit the front end of 55-year-old Kevin Cannon’s 2005 Lexus. Cannon was also carrying a 15-year-old passenger, Sean Cannon. Both drivers involved in the crash were taken to a nearby hospital for serious injuries, while the teenage passenger was (luckily) taken in for only minor injuries.

The driver suffered minor injuries in the crash and, according to the Flagler County Clerk of Court, now faces felony charges of DUI and DUI with serious bodily injury.
