In Titusville last Thursday, an emergency 911 call brought the Titusville Fire Department and the Titusville Police Department to 105 Seminole Avenue. The call reported a car accident, and when the emergency services arrived they found the single car involved in the crash. While no other vehicles were involved, it seems as though the car (which the report failed to describe in any detail) did crash into a building. More specifically, the car crashed through a large widow of Joann’s Hair Salon.
The police also noticed a downed power line draped across U.S. 1 and causing a potentially deadly situation to anyone whose car would come in contact with it. Although the report of the crash between the car and the beauty salon was described in the same report as the downed power line, it was not immediately clear whether or not the downed line contributed in any way to the crash between the car and the building or if the two incidents are entirely unrelated.
The driver of the vehicle, an individual who the authorities have yet to name, was rushed to a nearby hospital. It is believed that upon admittance the individual was listed as suffering from minor injuries. The current state of the individual is not known, and no other people are believed to have been involved in the crash.
While Florida Power & Light repaired the downed line, the authorities shut down U.S. 1. This caused some problem for the evening commuters, as the entire situation happened at around 7:25 in the evening, however the officials worked quickly and were able to repair the line without too long of a delay. As for the building involved in the crash, an inspector with the Building Department is believed to have visited the scene of the crash shortly after the incident took place in order to assess the situation and report on the necessary steps needed to ensure the building retained its structural integrity.
The Titusville Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances that led to the crash, although there is as of yet no indication whether or not they believe that such circumstances as substance abuse led to the accident.
