FHP Looking for Motorcyclist in Connection With Fatal Florida Hit-and-Run Accident
Florida Highway Patrol troopers are looking for a motorcyclist who may have caused a fatal hit-and-run accident with another motorcyclist in Lake County recently. The accident that killed a 54-year-old Orlando man occurred around 6:00 p.m. one recent evening on County Road 48 a bit east of U.S. Highway 27. Troopers report that they are looking for the rider of an orange or maroon Harley-Davidson Soft Tail Classic that likely has damage on each side. They report that the hit-and-run rider was wearing a black helmet at the time of the accident and probably has lacerations on his back and arms from the accident.
Florida Multi-Car Accident Caused By Intoxicated Driver Who Was Texting While Driving
Police say that a recent four-vehicle accident in New Port Richey was caused by a "perfect storm" of negligence on the part of a 33-year-old driver. They found that the man had consumed three beers in less than 90 minutes that evening and was texting while driving before his Dodge Ram pickup truck struck a car that had stopped at a red light at the intersection of U.S. Route 19 and Main Street. This collision triggered an accident that involved two other vehicles but, fortunately, resulted in no serious injuries. Orlando auto accident lawyer James O. Cunningham has been a strong advocate for substantive legislation against texting while driving in Florida. He believes that the number of cell phone car accidents in our state could be reduced if lawmakers finally join nearly all other states in banning the use of cell phones while behind the wheel.

A man riding his bicycle in Ponte Vedra Beach is listed in very critical condition after he was struck by a truck recently near the intersection of State Road A1A and Dolphin Boulevard. Florida Highway Patrol troopers say that the 56-year-old victim was southbound in the bike lane of S.R. A1A when the accident occurred. They say that a Ford truck driven by a 43-year-old man, also from Ponte Vedra Beach, was heading east on Dolphin Boulevard and attempting to turn north onto S.R. A1A when he drove into the path of the bicyclist.
Florida Motorcyclist Killed When Car Crosses Center Line
Florida Highway Patrol troopers investigating a fatal motorcycle accident report that an Odessa motorcyclist was killed when a car crossed the centerline into her lane, forcing her to collide with the side of the car. Troopers say the 59-year-old victim was riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound on US 27/US 19 when a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro driven by a 51-year-old Greenville man violated her right of way by drifting into oncoming traffic. Troopers say the victim had little or no time to avoid the accident and collided with the left front side of the car.
Alcohol a Possible Factor in Fatal Florida Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident
Polk County Sheriff’s deputies are still conducting their investigation into a hit-and-run bicycle accident in Lakeland that killed a 51-year-old man but claim that they suspect alcohol was a contributing factor. They report that the victim was struck and killed while riding his bike near Deeson Road and Cherry Road around 1:30 a.m. one recent morning. They arrested a 21-year-old Lakeland man in connection with the fatal accident after a local resident found the victim lying in the middle of Deeson Road.
