Orlando police officers and Orange County deputies have begun issuing tickets to drivers who don’t yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. Law enforcement agencies in our area recently rolled out Operation Best Foot Forward as part of a concerted effort to cut down on the number of people killed and injured in pedestrian accidents in Orange County and the City of Orlando. Undercover officers have begun strolling across crosswalks at intersections throughout Orange County and sending offenders to uniformed officers nearby to receive tickets.
Two separate accidents involving tractor-trailers closed nearly all northbound and all southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Palm Beach recently and sent three people to area hospitals with undisclosed injuries. The first accident occurred around 9:31 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near 45th Street when a sudden downpour caused a chain reaction accident in very heavy traffic. Florida Highway Patrol troopers are still conducting their investigation, but they say that this accident involved at least five passenger vehicles and a tractor-trailer. Two people were injured in this chain reaction trucking accident.
