Four Teens Injured, One Killed in Apopka Crash
The Florida Highway Patrol has issued a report on a Thursday afternoon crash in the Orange County city of Apopka that resulted in numerous injuries and at least one fatality. The crash took place close to 5:00pm and involved only one vehicle. The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the incident and assisted with the initial investigation into the reasons behind the fatal crash. Drowsy Driving More Dangerous Than Believed
A recent study from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety found that the road danger posed by drowsy drivers is much higher than before believed. The study, which was released last Thursday, was compiled using data gathered from over 3,500 individuals throughout the US from October of 2010 until December of 2013. These individuals all agreed to have cameras placed within their cars as well as other recording equipment, and during the course of the study 701 car crashes were recorded and then examined. Son of Man who Rescued Girl in 2010 Killed by Stolen Car in Seminole County
This past Wednesday, at close to 9:25 in the evening, King, a Maitland resident, was driving his red Ford Mustang through Seminole County. His path took him down US 17-92, into Fern Park, and ultimately to the intersection of US 17-92 and Lake of the Woods Boulevard. News 6 in Orlando recently released a report discussing damage done to cars due to poorly maintained roadways. According to this report, which specifically examined the number of damage claims made during this past year, 2017 saw an extremely high number of individuals recording significant and dangerous damage done to their cars as a direct result of improperly maintained roads throughout Orange County. Even though this number is distressingly high, what makes the report even more disturbing is that only 10% of the hundreds of people who filed claims with the state received compensation for the damages done to their cars. Marion County High-Speed Chase Occurred While Fleeing Driver Held Baby in Arms
A frightening high-speed chase that occurred in Marion County this past Thursday evening has resulted in a female suspect issued numerous charges including grand theft, resisting an officer, knowingly driving on a suspended license, and child neglect. According to the official report issued by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began when an on-duty police officer in Dunnellon attempted to initiate a route traffic stop on a silver Ford F150 with a Tennessee license plate after the officer in question clocked the Ford as going higher than the posted limit. Arrest Made in Connection in Fatal NYE Winter Park Crash
Police in Winter Park arrested a 28-year-old man this week in connection with an incident that took place on New Years Eve and resulted in the death of two young women. According to the official report from Sgt. Garvin McComie, a spokesperson for the Winter Park Police Department, the death of the two women occurred after the car they were sitting in was involved in a collision with another car.
