A hit-and-run accident along U.S.1 and Viera Boulevard has left a 31-year-old person from Melbourne in serious condition. According to the preliminary reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, it was somewhere around 8:00 on the evening of Saturday, September 22nd when the accident between a red convertible and a motorcycle took place. At the time of this writing it is not clear if the authorities possess any credible leads in relation to the incident or if they are still waiting for someone to come forward and provide important information that pertains to the incident in question.
The motorcyclist was on their bike and driving down U.S. 1. At the intersection of U.S. 1 and Viera Boulevard, a red convertible – believed to be a Chrysler 200 – was attempting to make a left turn. This maneuver caused it to cross over the lanes currently being inhabited by the motorcyclist. For reasons that are not entirely clear the driver of the convertible failed to notice the motorcyclist.
The car turned directly in front of the motorcycle, and the biker subsequently collided with the side of the car. The force of the impact caused the biker to be violently thrown from their vehicle and onto the ground nearby. It is not clear if the driver of the Mazda slowed down or stopped their vehicle after the initial collision, but it is certain that in the following moments the driver of the Mazda fled from the scene in their vehicle.
Official reports suggest that the Chrysler convertible possesses some significant damage to its front end (caused by the crash). Specifically, it is believed that the Mazda will show clear signs of impact along the front grill and the fog light.
The report did not indicate if the crash was witnessed by anyone in the area, at it is also not clear where the investigation currently lies or if the authorities believe themselves to be in possession of any leads that might take them close to their goal of capturing the person behind the wheel of the Chrysler.
As the investigation continues, the FHP asks anyone with any information to please come forward.
