Orlando Multi-Vehicle Accident Injures 11 people

An Orlando Multiple Vehicle accident near West Colonial Drive near Paul Street has resulted in 11 people being taken to area hospitals Wednesday morning. A trauma alert was issued for one of the victims while the others have serious injuries.

It has been reported that a church van with seven residents and two workers inside lost control when traveling along a busy road. The van is apparently from a group home for adults with special needs. The van crashed into six cars at a stoplight and rolled over to its side. According to Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes, all nine occupants of the church van in addition to the drivers of two of the other vehicles were taken to hospitals for treatment. Due to the size of the accident, Orange County Fire Rescue said that a total of 25 firefighting and EMS units responded to the incident. West Colonial Drive near 408 west to Powers Drive was closed by officials while the scene was cleared.
