On Wednesday, June 13th, a 55-year-old Titusville man was driving his car down Interstate 95 in Brevard County when something happened to cause him to lose control of the vehicle. Early reports from the scene of the crash state that the accident was found sometime after the actual single-car crash took place. This means that the authorities in the area do not know the exact time that the incident took place.
We know only that the police were called in at sometime around 6:30 in the morning by a civilian who discovered the wrecked car along the side of the road. Florida Highway patrol members working within Brevard County were among those who first responded to the crash reports, and their statement included the information that the crash took place somewhere close to mile marker 209, in the city of Cocoa.
The scene as it was discovered and partially reconstructed runs as follows: A 55-year-old Titusville resident was driving his 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck down I-95 when, as previously mentioned, he lost control of the vehicle. The pickup then left the roadway and drove down the shoulder some ways until it struck a tree. The force of the impact between the Chevrolet pickup and the tree caused the truck to overturn. The 55-year-old driver of the vehicle (believed to be the only individual inside of the car at the time of the crash) suffered from fatal injuries as a result of the collision. A person who was not named in the report stumbled upon the incident sometime after the crash took place. This person then called the authorities, and police with the Florida Highway Patrol as well as emergency response teams (including paramedics and other emergency medical professionals) reached the area shortly afterwards.
Unfortunately, due to the severity of the injuries and the length of time that passed before the 55-year-old man received treatment he was not able to be saved, and the emergency medical teams reported him dead at the scene. While we do know that the man was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, it is not clear if this fact played a direct role in the fatal injuries he suffered. State troopers suggested that the man experienced some sort of medical emergency that caused the incident.
