Collision Between Cyclist and Car Under Investigation in Melbourne

Reports are just beginning to emerge from the Melbourne Police Department regarding a bicycle accident which took place within that city early on the morning of Friday, April 5th. According to these early reports, the incident in question involves a bicycle and at least one car, although the full details on what happened and how many total vehicles were involved are still not publicly available.

What we know so far is that the incident took place early on Friday morning, around 8:00 in the morning. While the exact nature of the collision remains either completely unknown or solely in the hands of the Melbourne Police Department, we do know that it was severe enough to cause traffic all along U.S. 1’s northbound lanes in the area to slow to an almost complete standstill by 8:30 in the morning. It is not clear if this done by the Melbourne Police Department in order for them to clear the scene of debris as well as conduct their initial investigation or if this was just the result of drivers slowing in order to gawk at the accident.

The exact location along U.S. 1 where the incident took place is not currently known, but it does appear that the area was near to University Boulevard. The timing of the incident certainly impacted the morning commute for many people who needed to travel along U.S. 1 in order to get to their jobs, but it was suggested that the traffic was beginning to clear up as the time began to near 9:30 in the morning. The short period of time that the incident was causing traffic issues suggests that perhaps the incident was not as damaging as initially feared.

At the time of this writing, no other information regarding the causes of the incident was available to the public. We do not know whether or not anyone was injured in the accident, and it is similarly unclear whether or not anyone was killed as a result of the accident.
