Two individuals are dead after a car accident within Osceola County that took place on the morning of Wednesday, April 1st. We know from reports issued by the Florida Highway Patrol that the incident took place along the eastern lanes of Interstate 4, somewhere around mile marker 61. The preliminary investigation also suggests that the crash happened close to 9:30 in the morning, although the exact time that the accident took place remains unknown.
At least two vehicles were involved in the accident, one of them a pickup or other type of truck. At the time in question, the two vehicles were traveling down the eastbound lanes of I-4. The reports did not mention whether or not either of the vehicles were in an outside lane or a center lane, but we do know that the driver of the truck, a 74-year-old, suddenly swerved out of their lane and into the lane next to them. Inside of this second lane was another vehicle carrying two individuals. The driver of the smaller vehicle was not able to avoid the sudden incursion of the truck into their lane and the two vehicles subsequently collided with one another.
The force of the crash caused the 74-year-old’s truck to flip over. It is not clear if the driver of this truck was thrown from their vehicle or if they were instead trapped within the cab of their vehicle. We do know that the investigators are currently unsure as to whether or not the older individual was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. It is clear that the individual sustained severe injuries as a result of the crash. When the paramedics arrived, they began treating the driver of the truck as well as two individuals who were inside of the smaller car. It is not known if the 74-year-old was taken from the crash site to a nearby hospital, but the reports did indicate that they were ultimately declared dead as a result of their injuries.
Both of the people in the smaller vehicle were injured in the crash, but it is not believed that their injuries were serious or required any sort of advanced medical attention.
