A multi-car crash that took place within Flagler County on Saturday, March 21st, is believed to be responsible for the death of at least one person. While little is currently known about the reasons for the accident, it is clear that the incident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol as they seek to uncover just what took place to cause the incident as well as who might be responsible. Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol within Flagler County currently possess the greatest amount of information as it pertains to this crash; however, these reports remain somewhat sparse regarding details, leaving us mostly in the dark as to the events in question.
At an unknown time on Saturday, numerous vehicles were traveling down the northern lanes of I-95, close to mile marker 280, when something happened to cause a collision. Officials with the Florida Highway Patrol did indicate that at least four vehicles were involved in the accident, but they did not include any information on what types of vehicles these were or to what degree each was involved in the incident. A crash involving three motorcycles and one tractor-trailer, for instance, is a much different sort of accident than one involving four minivans.
The severity of the accident seems clear as at least one person was declared dead as a result. We do not know if this person died in the crash itself or if they were rushed from the crash site to a hospital before they were declared deceased. We also do not currently have any information regarding the number of injured in the incident, something that seems important given the number of cars involved.
As emergency crews worked to conduct the preliminary investigation as well as clear the area of debris related to the crash, teams of paramedics and EMTs tended to those who had been involved. Traffic attempting to pass through the area via the northern lanes of I-95 was blocked throughout the night and drivers who were attempting to pass through the area were strongly advised to find alternate routes of travel in order to reach their final destinations.
