Multi-Car Accident Shuts Down Lanes around Orlando International Airport

An accident that took place on Saturday resulted in numerous delays in the traffic flow around the Orlando International Airport.  Although details about the accident are scant, it seems as though the crash occurred close to the airport’s northern exit.  It was about 12:00 in the afternoon when this happened.  Emergency crews arrived quickly to the site and began helping remove the damaged vehicles from the area in order to allow traffic to flow smoothly once again.

The accident itself involved numerous cars, although the exact number has not been released by any of the official organizations involved in the response and cleanup of this event.  Orlando International Airport officials released a statement that outlined all of the details they were prepared to release, however most of these details related to the flow of traffic around the busy airport.  While the participating organizations investigated the scene, traffic through the airport was rerouted through the cell phone lots, which resulted in numerous delays and thick traffic snarls.

The only detail relating to the crash itself that officials were able or willing to release was that the accident involved more than one vehicle.  Whether or not it also involved pedestrians is not clear, however it is likely that if this were the case the lanes throughout the airport would not have reopened as soon as they did and the investigation would have taken priority over the congested traffic.  Regardless, any car accident is likely going to leave physical evidence on those who have been involved.  Even if the Orlando International Airport crash was primarily benign, there are good chances that those involved will find themselves dealing with physical problems that are unexpected and costly.  A trip to the hospital alone comes along with a steep bill, and it is often intensified by the check-up visits, physical therapy, and recovery time (which frequently includes wage loss as a result of an inability to work).
