An investigation remains underway into an incident that took place in Orange County this past Tuesday, September 4th, that left at least one car in a badly damaged state. It is not immediately clear if any people were injured as a result of the auto accident, and it is also not known whether or not more than one car was damaged.
What we do know is that it began late at night on the Tuesday mentioned above. A pickup truck was traveling down Lee Road in Orlando, close to where this street intersects with Interstate 4, and it closed in on a 7-Eleven that is also around the same location. As is not uncommon for 7-Eleven stores, this one featured a gas station in the front area. The report did not indicate which of the numerous gas stations chains located within Orange County was operating this particular grouping of pumps.
The driver of the pickup truck was either attempting to drive to the station to fill their tank or otherwise they lost control of their vehicle. The pickup truck entered the 7-Eleven’s lot and ran directly into one of the gas pumps. Due to the force with which the truck hit the pump, the pump was caused to become unmoored from its normally stationary location. It then toppled over.
Parked on the other side of the gas pump at the time of the incident was a second car. According to the owner of this vehicle, it had been purchased only hours before from a car dealership located near to the area of the crash. It is not clear how badly the pump damaged the vehicle, but it does seem clear that at least a small amount of damage was inflicted on the new car.
The pickup truck also suffered from some damage as a result of the incident, but the report did not state how badly the pickup was impacted.
At the time of this writing, neither of the drivers have been handed charges for the crash, although the ongoing investigation might uncover something that changes this circumstance.
Any updates to this story will be issued by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
