One person was reported injured after hitting another vehicle and crashing into a community recreation center. According to local law enforcement, the accident happened in the early evening in Daytona Beach. A female driver was driving her Hyundai when she lost control, hit another vehicle and then crashed into the First Baptist Church Youth Rec Center located at 115 North Ridgewood Avenue.
The driver had to be removed from the car by first responders and taken to the hospital where she remains with critical injuries. According to police, the driver and passengers of the other vehicle were not injured. Luckily, nobody inside the rec center was injured. However, the building did suffer from some exterior structural damage and two interior rooms were also damaged.
The cause of the accident remains unknown.
In the case at hand, the owner of the second vehicle will be able to seek compensation for the damage done to their car. Furthermore, although the report says they were not injured, they should regardless go and see a medical professional. Often times car accident-related injuries do not manifest for days – or even weeks – after the accident. If they do develop injuries and seek compensation, by going to a doctor immediately after the accident they will have created an official record that can be used as evidence in court.
Likewise, the owners of the community recreation center can also seek compensation for the damage done to their building. Here the court will likely provide compensation for the costs of repair and, perhaps, for any lost income that resulted from having to close the center during repairs.
