A 27-year-old Alabama man was charged with careless driving after an accident in Escambia County on October 27th. The crash happened at the intersection of Century Boulevard and Champion Drive around 5:45 a.m. Authorities say that truck driver Ryan Joiner, who was driving a 2015 Peterbilt, was stopped in the median northbound on Century Boulevard and drove into the direct path of 22-year-old Nakeem Williams’s vehicle when he attempted to re-enter the traffic way. Williams was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital with minor injuries, and the truck driver now faces careless driving charges for failing to see the oncoming driver.
This quick conviction of “careless driving” on behalf of the truck driver is not uncommon with accidents such as this. Trucking companies are required to follow federal regulations regarding a number of concerns, and when the negligent actions of a trucking company or truck driver result in injury, no matter how minor, victims deserve to be fully compensated.
As the trucking industry grows in Escambia County, and other areas of Florida, more and more truck accidents are happening. Luckily in this case, it doesn’t appear that either party was seriously injured, at least from what we know so far. However, in most cases with trucking accidents, the injuries are substantial and rarely minor. The combined size, weight, speed, and many blind spots on semi-trucks pose significant dangers to other drivers. Often when a truck accident occurs, victims suffer serious, debilitating injuries that require long-term medical care.
In the event of any type of trucking accident, an experienced truck accident lawyer is needed to manage an insurance claim and hire experts such as accident scene investigators/reconstructionists to preserve and document evidence. As we pursue monetary compensation for your current injuries, we also consider the future implications and the costs of this to the injured person. When a client has lost a loved one in a fatal truck crash, we evaluate the economic loss the family has suffered, and will endure in the future.
