Three people were hospitalized in Jacksonville as a result of a serious motorcycle crash on West Beaver Street and Acorn Street on Friday, October 23rd. The collision occurred around 10:49 p.m. between a single-rider motorcycle and a car carrying two passengers. According to police who arrived on the scene, the motorcyclist and both passengers of the car were taken to the hospital while the driver of the car stayed behind. The driver is said to have cooperated openly with the officers at the crash site.
The two passengers from the car were found to have suffered only minor injuries, but the motorcyclist was not so lucky, sustaining life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. As of now, there have been no further updates as to the victims’ statuses, and none of the victims’ names have been released to the public. Despite the damage caused by the accident, perhaps the only silver lining is that no one was killed.
As of the night of the crash, there was no definitive answer as to what caused the crash. However, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has said that their traffic homicide unit will be conducting an investigation. In order to initially investigate the scene of the accident, lanes of West Beaver Street were temporarily closed between Tyler and Acorn Street; they have since reopened to the public.
