This past Saturday, several individuals were driving past Disney Springs near Lake Buena Vista when they crashed on East Buena Vista Drive. The accident reportedly took place close to the Orange parking garage, although it was not clear whether or not any of the cars involved were leaving or entering the garage. The official statement issued by Reedy Creek Emergency Services, which includes the Reedy Creek Fire Department, indicates that the collision took place around 6:30 in the evening and involved three separate vehicles.
Only a few additional details regarding the incident have received an official release, but it is known that several people were injured and taken to various hospitals. One of the cars involved was occupied by a man and his daughter. Their car reportedly flipped at least once. The emergency response services transported both the man and his daughter to the hospital, although they were each taken to different hospitals: the man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center while the daughter was taken to the renowned Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
A third individual, believed to be from a separate vehicle, was also transported to a hospital: Florida Hospital Celebration Health. None of the names of the individuals involved has been released, and their current conditions are similarly unknown. The condition of each individual at the time of their admittance to the various hospitals, whether any of them were considered to be trauma alerts or critical cases, is similarly unknown.
East Buena Vista Drive was closed for several hours in the aftermath of the accident and traffic was rerouted along parallel routes.
While the emergency crews worked to investigate the crash and make the road passable, it was noted that severe damage had occurred to road signs in the crash area and that a high amount of debris was scattered around the street. This seems to indicate that the accident was violent. In the aftermath of a crash, it is hard to know exactly the extent of the physical damage suffered by those involved. Many times, the most complicated injuries do not manifest themselves until the days, weeks, and months after the accident. These can quickly become the most devastating element in a crash, as the added medical expenses can begin to sap an individual’s (or a family’s) financial resources.
