Officials within the Orlando Police Department, the Florida Highway Patrol, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office are currently searching for the individual responsible for an auto accident that took place on Friday, December 7th, and resulted in a car becoming lodged within the living room of a private residence.

According to the reports that have currently reached the public, the event happened some time early in the morning, while numerous people were inside of the home. These included children as well as their parents. Shortly before the accident, a person was driving a car down 37th Street, close to Westmoreland Drive. For reasons that are not clear, it was as this person was passing 1008 37th Street that they lost control of their vehicle, drove across a lawn, and crashed into the private home.

As a result of the collision, parts of the home’s rear were badly damaged. Inside, things were even worse as the Christmas tree and numerous pieces of furniture were destroyed. Thankfully, none of the family was in the living room at the time of the crash. Had the incident happened only a short while earlier or later, it is entirely possible that someone would have been inside of the living room and that this person would have been struck by the car as it burst unexpectedly through the wall.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the initial investigation into the incident discovered a stolen gun within the vehicle, although it is not known if the investigators are managing to link the weapon to anyone who might have knowledge of the crash itself. After the collision, the driver of the car apparently managed to exit the vehicle and flee from the scene. It is not believed that the police are currently aware of their identity or whereabouts.

Residents who live in this part of Orlando say that it isn’t the first time that properties in this location have been damaged by passing cars. These residents are beginning to demand that authorities pay more attention to the safety of the area by placing additional lights around the area as well as rumble strips to encourage drivers to pilot their cars more slowly.
