Bus Driver Injured in Disney Crash Awarded nearly $1 Million by Orange County Jury
The driver of a Disney World bus whose legs were crushed in an accident near Epcot in 2010 was awarded $970,000 by an Orange County jury in a recent ruling. The 47-year-old driver had been a Disney employee for 10 years when he was critically injured in the accident on March 23, 2010. He was driving his bus that day when he collided with the back of a tour bus, which had stopped on Epcot Center Drive. Florida Highway Patrol troopers gave the man a ticket for careless driving in connection with the accident, but his personal injury attorney persuaded the jury that the driver of the tour bus was also at fault for parking her bus in the middle of the road.
Accidents, Red Light Runners Decrease at Orange County Intersection Equipped with Red Light Cameras
Orlando auto accident lawyer James O. Cunningham has been following the debate about red light cameras for several years now. He fully supports installing these devices because studies have shown that when drivers know the cameras are installed at an intersection, they are much less likely to disobey traffic signals. Opponents of the cameras say that they are more of a revenue stream for cities, counties and the companies who make the cameras and are not effective at preventing accidents at intersections.
