According to law enforcement officials investigating the car accidents, the chain reaction crash occurred on S.R. 520 near Bellevue Way.

Law enforcement officials investigating a single-car accident that claimed the lives of three people say that the car’s impact was so intense that people calling 911 to report the accident said that the car blew up. An article on News-JournalOnline.com said that one male and two female passengers in the car were killed instantly around 8:30 on the evening of September 2, 2009, in the southbound lane of Nova Road just north of 15th Street in Holly Hill.

"I hate to say it’s the worst I’ve seen in 30 years as a police officer, but it is," Holly Hill Police Chief Mark Barker said. "It looks like an IED (improvised explosive device) in Iraq went off. The car was completely split in half—the front end landed 30 feet from the back end of the car."
